I live in Raleigh with my husband and two sons. As a family, we enjoy traveling, cooking and eating, watching movies, playing games, swimming, hiking, biking, and listening to music (especially jazz and classic rock). My husband plays guitar, our older son plays piano and trombone, and our younger son plays saxophone and guitar. I'm their biggest fan.
This is my 25th year of teaching. I have taught in Winston-Salem and Raleigh, North Carolina; Budapest, Hungary; and Pasadena, California. I have loved meeting students and their families from many countries, including Mexico, Bhutan, Syria, Congo, El Salvador, Afghanistan, Brazil, Burma, Iraq, Venezuela, Honduras, Guatemala, Paraguay, Somalia, Thailand, and Central African Republic. I'm the author of At the River and Other Stories for Adult Emergent Readers, an ESL/literacy curriculum for adults and adolescents. Learn more about it here: www.emergentreaders.org.
